Hosting (SaaS vs. SaaP)
MVP Plant is offered both as a service (Software as a Service (SaaS)) and as a product (Software as a Product (SaaP)). One solution is not better or worse than the other. The total cost of ownership (TCO) and the corporate culture decide which is best.
TCO is the sum of all costs associated with purchasing, installing, and supporting new software. The least expensive software package is not always the best solution because the software may never get fully implemented or accepted by its end-users due to difficultly of use or limited functionality. Consider the value and increased revenues resulting from a software solution that is easy to use and implement and delivers a powerful decision support system to maintenance and facilities departments.
SaaS
SaaS does not require a significant upfront hardware and software investment because CMMS Data Group hosts the application and is responsible for the upkeep and update of all hardware and software. Additionally, the long-term costs associated with owning and supporting hardware and software are eliminated.
SaaP
Although upfront costs are greater than SaaS, SaaP allows for the traditional purchase and installation of software behind a company’s firewall. Once purchased, the company owns it forever.
Regardless of the hosting method, your company always maintains full ownership of its data.
